Step One:

Make a post (public, friends-locked, filtered... whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of ten holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV"). The important thing is to make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

If you wish for real life things (not stories or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two:

Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

* If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use—or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free—do it.

* You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf—to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not—it's your call.

* There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

* I believe in supporting charities and non-profit organizations year round, but the holiday season is always a prime time to think of giving. I'd like for those of you who are willing to donate, whatever amount you are willing (let's set a minimum of $5?) to the GLBTQ organization of your choice, any (legitimate) organization working to achieve equality of all people regardless of one's self-identified or perceived gender or sexuality.
- Another cause (or in case you are not wholly behind the above cause) please donate to your local foodbanks and organizations who provide clothing and other necessities to those in need.

* I really, really, really would love a Dead Zone fanfic featuring Johnny and Bruce, longer than 1,000 words. Close friendship or slash. I love the relationship between these characters and these guys get so little lover.

* I want all of The Sentinel on DVD. I don't care if it's official or premium quality, I just have really wanted it easily on hand. I no longer have a VCR so there goes my options for the tapes. =\

* I'm on a continual search to get four novels by Tamora Pierce - three of the Song of the Lioness books (Alanna, In the Hands of the Goddess, The Woman Who Rides Like A Man, and Lioness Rampant). I want the "first run" (1986) printings with the original covers. I found this series at the library when I was in first grade while the books were out of print. I have very fond memories of seeing the cover for Alanna the first time and would love to have those editions. Published by Atheneum.

* I really want a new avatar for Twitter use. I was using my commish'd piece of art with Bruce & Johnny for over a year, now I'd like something else. Anyone want to try their hand at some art?

* I want a good video-making program. Something fairly intuitive but allows me a range of editing options. I want something that won't freeze up on me constantly. I hear the Adobe one that comes with CS is supposed to be good. I don't like Vegas, which I've tried. Doesn't have to be "official" copy. ;) Oh, and I'm a PC user.

* A mash-up/mix/combo of Rihanna's "Unfaithful" and Eminem's (ft. Rihanna) "Love the Way You Lie." No, really.

* A new moleskin notebook. The pocket size. Either ruled or with the squares. I really miss having one that easily came with me everywhere.

* Keep me in (dark) chocolate and I'm pretty darn happy.

* Well I won't turn down more Cho/Jane fic..... ;D

In case you need to contact me directly, please use LJ's direct message, I don't like giving other information out in a public post.

Oh god, I used to have the original version of Alanna. So much nicer than the current one. But then I loaned it to a friend who didn't take very good care of books, and then it got stolen anyway, so I'm stuck with the modern cover. :( *sigh*

I think I squeed aloud when I found the '86 copy of the third book at Half Price Books a few months ago. I was absolutely giddy with excitement. I currently own the entire series in paperback (which I've had since they reprinted the books), I have the hardcover with the entire story together - as she'd originally intended. And now I have the "original" Woman Who Rides Like A Man in hardcover.

These books are one of the things that I tell people "I will pay you back if you find this." (The other thing I'd love to have is another Mukai art poster, but not for hundreds of dollars!!)

I'm a sucker for my favorite books and books from my childhood. A few years ago I bought hardcovers for the Lloyd Alexander High King series, and those I have with original covers. :3 I still want a different copy of The Bell Jar. I loved the copy I'd found, it was a used book formerly from a library. I lent it to a friend and sadly what we figure happened was that her parents collected it with other library books and returned it. :( Not like it's a book I'm tempted to reread all that often, but I still liked my copy.

Ok, geeking about books. Reminding me of how badly I want to eventually live somewhere where I get to have a room full of books and awesome shelves to store and display them all!

I'm almost positive that my copies of the Alanna books are first run editions, although I have to warn you that they've been with me for a while and I'm not always gentle with my books. I can take some pictures if you like, though, and you can let me know after you see the condition.

I think so! I'm at the computer lab right now, but pulling them off amazon these are the covers that I have in paperback. Once I get home I'll actually take pictures of my books so you can see the wear on them. *facepalms*

Oooh, paperback? Yeah, I've got the paperback, and actually those aren't the original printing. :) When they came back into print in the 90s that's indeed the covers (got those!) And I can imagine the condition they're in if they're well lover. ;)
