Shows & Teaching oh my

Haven: Catching up on last night's episode right now and I looooove it. But seriously Chris, just stay away, ok? I need the love triangle (or threesome *snickers*) of Nathan and Audrey and Duke to be free of extra interference.

Burn Notice: Mixed feelings on the finale. We'll just have to see what comes in November!

Teaching: Still seeking options for 9-11 material for my class. Something informative, culturally appropriate, maybe only about 1-3 pages, and, er, yeah.

ILU all!

P.S. Someone wanna do my homework for class? I don't wanna.

Ah! XD I forgot to get you more poems/articles. SORRY.

So, this is in the poetry book I have. It's not really a poem, more like an essay, and there might be a few concepts or words that you don't particularly want to dwell on in one short class, but I think that there's a lot in it about some of the problems that led up to 9/11 and some of the issues the world faces after. Thoughts in the Presence of Fear by Wendell Berry

I'm flipping around in my book for at least a couple more things. I'm just posting this now to show you that I didn't forget. XD Well, I forgot, but now that I've remembered I won't forget again. Or. Yeah. Whatever. Shutting up now. :P

Hey! :) Here's a couple more things:

Poem: Anthem September 11, 2001 by Tammam Adi

Poem: "Burnt Ground" by Rachel Vigier. I couldn't find it online but its short so here:

On this street, a powdery dust
settles on my shoulders
as I think of the moment--just before

when it's still an ordinary morning
on a bright September day
when the skyline

stretches up forever
the glory of space
standing still as workers

milling inside or on the street
each start an ordinary day
in an ordinary way. Now

this is the moment--just after
when I think whose dust is this
blowing across burnt ground?

Eye-witness account/essay?: John Updike, who is just an awesome writer anyway, watched the planes crash into the towers and wrote about it two days later. I couldn't find it online and it's a little too long to type out. It's simply titled [September 13th, 2011]. You may have luck finding it. I love the first line, "Suddenly summoned to witness something great and horrendous, we keep fighting not to reduce it to our own smallness."

Soooo. That's all I got for now. I actually haven't read much of this poetry book (though, LOL, I find myself reading it now) and I can't find the stuff that I think might be helpful online. :/ Anyway, if I see something else I'll be sure to send it to you. :)

I wish I could help you with the 9-11 stuff, but I tend to avoid that kind of thing.

I loved Haven! I can't decide who I ship more--Nathan/Audrey, Nathan/Duke, or Nathan/Audrey/Duke. But yes, Chris needs to go away. I was almost prepared to at least put up with him until he made that comment about wishing he could influence Audrey.

I tend to avoid most 9-11 stuff, too, which is a large reason why this is difficult! But I'm glad my student brought it up this past week so that I'm better prepared. I mean, I tend to avoid a lot of the material because of patriotic extremism, so having a multicultural class in mind is actually rather helpful. I'm just hoping I can find something appropriate (all meanings of the word) to offer.

Oh Haven - ILU! So glad it runs through the end of the month, it's definitely a show I look forward to each week. (And I already miss Leverage!) I'm not sold on Nathan/Duke (I need the Audrey element XD) but I so love the trio of characters. I feel bad for Duke about Evie, but I'm glad she's gone. I just wish they didn't try to pull the redeeming thing out at the end, I just kind of wanted her to be manipulative. :p

Heh. Well, to be honest, if I were reading or writing fanfic, it would probably end up being Nathan/Audrey with the potential to add Duke. I love the trio, too, and I just want to give pining!Nathan a hug. Bless his laconic heart.

I'm with you on the Evie thing, too. I was ready to dislike her full-stop, but they had to redeem her. Although I still think she was a manipulative jerk. Anybody who would climb into bed with the rev needs to go away.
