I went to the humane society today. Mostly I needed something to motivate me to get out of the house and away from the depression that has just been clinging to me all week. I planned to meet some cats and think about possibilities.

I had not planned on getting a cat this weekend! But I found several lovely kitties - many who were talkative little buggers! - and had a heck of a time choosing between two lovely boys who tried to capture my attention.

I ended up signing papers today for a 3-year-old dark colored short-haired tabby with wavy markings. His profile labeled him "shy" but he really seemed more in the affectionate camp (which is what won me over, despite my love for Chester an 11yo orange tabby). I went home with some supplies and picked up some more at the store. I fixed my vacuum, cleaned, did some rearranging. I'll pick him up and take him home tomorrow.

This was what I needed, I think.

His name currently is, oddly enough, Maconik so I'm going to rename. He may turn out to be Coulson. :3 Or, after talking with my mom, I remembered an old favorite name of mine from the film The Philadelphia Story (Cary Grant, Katherine Hepburn, Jimmy Stewart) -- C.K. Dexter Haven.

Anyway. Yay kitty!

Kitties are better than Prozac. Natasha pulled me out of a very deep depression and regularly delights me.

:) I think this guy'll do well. As much as I dread all the fur to deal with (ugh, carpeting...), I like the idea of a furry companion, and something to take care of. I hope he adjusts well.

I love that icon, very appropriate :D

Yay! Kitties are awesome and you will have many happy and loving years with... whatever he ends being called.

Good decision!
