(maybe not so) grown up holiday wishlist

Seen this a couple places now...

Step One:

Make a post (public, friends-locked, filtered... whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of ten holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV"). The important thing is to make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

If you wish for real life things (not stories or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two:

Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

* If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use—or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free—do it.

* You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf—to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not—it's your call.

* There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

I believe in supporting charities and non-profit organizations year round, but the holiday season is always a prime time to think of giving. I'd like for those of you who are willing to donate, whatever amount you are willing (let's set a minimum of $5?) to the GLBTQ organization of your choice, any (legitimate) organization working to achieve equality of all people regardless of one's self-identified  or perceived gender or sexuality.
Another cause (or in case you are not wholly behind the above cause) please donate to your local foodbanks and organizations who provide clothing and other necessities to the poor and homeless.

need a paying job. I am moving to Minneapolis, MN in the first week of January to begin graduate school. I've yet to acquire an apartment (huge, numero uno on my wish/necessity list) but I'll be near downtown, possibly in the Loring Park area.

I really, really, really would love a Dead Zone fanfic featuring Johnny and Bruce, longer than 1,000 words. Close friendship or slash. I love the relationship between these characters and want to see some more.

I would totally be delighted with a CSI Las Vegas fic for my otp Gil/Greg. Make it a holiday fic, maybe! Ah... been so long since I read something new.

Since the moment I determined Emily Prentiss and Abby Scuito were dating in my NaNoWriMo fic, I have desperately wanted art of some sort - hand drawn, manip, whatever - of the two lovely women. No need for anything overly graphic.

I want all of The Sentinel on DVD. I don't care if it's official or premium quality, I just have really wanted it easily on hand. When I move I won't have access to a VCR so there goes my options for the tapes. =\ As long as I can play them on my 14-inch screen TV from my PS3, I'll be a really happy camper.

Gift certificates for: Target, Amazon.com, grocery stores in Minneapolis.

I'm on a continual search to get four novels by Tamora Pierce - each of the Song of the Lioness books (Alanna, In the Hands of the Goddess, The Woman Who Rides Like A Man, and Lioness Rampant). I want the "first run" printings with the original covers. I found this series at the library when I was in first grade while the books were out of print. I have very fond memories of seeing the cover for Alanna the first time and would love to have those editions. Admittedly, I would also be very happy the new print with all four books together as originally intended.

A soundtrack/playlist (fanmix, ficmix) for my Criminal Minds series "Shook the Bones".

Feedback on any and all stories. I may be writing for myself on a base level, but I want people to enjoy my writing. It means the world to me when anyone drops a note that they look forward to more, or wish me luck, or even the best - spend a few minutes to really talk about story or something they like. If you can't find something of mine that you particularly care to comment on, seek out your favorite authors and drop them a line. Don't worry if you left feedback before, the author will be honored that you came back to reread.

In case you need to contact me directly for some reason (rather than the journal's direct messages), my e mail is claritycw at gmail.

Heartfelt seasons greetings, all.

Too tired to dig for images... but the books were hardcover. And I do have a couple avatars I found by someone on LJ. I uploaded the two here since they have part of the covers from Alanna and In the Hands...

I think I did some general searching on ebay over the summer, no luck.
